Plaster Demo

Joel Froehle joined the MN NICE group to demonstrate mold making and slip casting this week. This was a hands-on accompaniment to last week's technical lecture on plaster and casting slips. Great questions and great discussion.

Joan Bruneau Visit

Joan Bruneau, a lovely potter based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, visited Northern Clay Center this past week. The NICE students spent the day with Joan watching her demonstrate her approach to cut and altered forms. As she worked, Joan discussed setting up a storefront in her town, the challenges of pricing, the continued development of her work, and sustaining a career as a potter.

Linda Sikora Demo

The MN NICE group joined the larger NCC community for an afternoon workshop by Linda Sikora, Professor at Alfred University. Linda spoke eloquently about making and then spent several hours demoing her approach to trimming and assembly.
